When it comes to interiors, there are few things I love more than a well styled bookshelf. As a self-proclaimed book nerd and hopeless collector of travel momentos and other miscellany, bookshelves are like a blank canvas to display all of my prized possessions. Having saved hundreds of inspiration photos to my files (see my favorites on pinterest), it seems there’s a fool proof recipe: bookcase+books+personality=stylish shelves.
1. The Bookcase: Built-ins are the gold standard but aren’t always an option, especially if you rent. To get the built in look, I recently bought a pair of parsons bookcases to flank our fireplace and couldn’t be happier with them.
2. The Books: I favor biographies and books on design, fashion, and travel but buy whatever interests you. Variety is theĀ spice of life!
3. The Personality: Mix in some photos and decorative accessories to add a bit of whimsy. Whenever I travel I try and pick up something unique to remember the trip by. Whether it’s a piece of coral or a brass crab from a road-side antique mall, it makes me smile to see my mementos on a daily basis.

haha I’m with you with the self proclaimed book nerd!! Love that green one – so fun!! What’re you reading right now…novel wise?? I’d love to know!

Right now I’m reading The Social Animal by David Brooks. Fascinating stuff!
Love that Parsons Bookcase. I have been arguing with my brain to get a bookcase for my apt. I don’t have a ton of room but I do have a lot of fabulous design and fashion books, as well as some pretty sweet accessories. But, clutter isn’t cute so I need to find a good place for the bookcase. Love this post!

Love this “recipe!” I think my bookcase has always acted as my catchall and has become this naturally. Haha. I love the punch that Hancock Shelf gives. I’ll need to try that!
