Remember earlier last week when I was daydreaming about a summer trip to Maine? Well my wheels haven’t stopped spinning and I think we’re going to try and make this happen! In researching potential places to stay, I came across theĀ Captain Fairfield Inn and immediately fell in love. Designed by Rachel Reider the 9 room bed and breakfast is the perfect mix of old world charm and modern style and sensibility.
After spending some more time researching, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the Inn was featured in Rue Magazine’s Holiday Issue (76-88). I envision myself sleeping quite well with that zebra headboard or David Hicks La Fiorentina drapes coloring my surroundings.
Have you been to the Kennebunkport area? I’d love to hear your tips!

Looks amazing! Maine in the summer is a favorite destination of mine. I always enjoying an afternoon trip to Cape Elizabeth for lobster rolls. Camden is beautiful. I also enjoy stopping in Portland for dinner.
Although I haven’t been in a few years, Conte’s in Rockport is a dining experience not to be missed.
So much natural beauty and so many creative businesses. Perfect vacation destination.
That entrance is so pretty!!
Such a lovely inn! I’m right down the road from Kennebunkport and there are so many things to see and do! You’ve picked an amazing place to visit. Make sure you take the short drive down 1A to York to see the Nubble Lighthouse! Enjoy your vacation!
The Captain Fairfield is the best place to stay in Maine! However it makes me nervous to see other people discovering it because then I may have trouble getting a room!
Thank you for your nice comments about our Kennebunkport property, Captain Fairfield Inn. Our innkeepers there, Jed and Alana, would be happy to fill you in on Kennebunkport insider tips and info. Kennebunkport is my husband’s and my favorite spot in Maine! We truly hope to retire there … I know, not too many people retire in Maine!! We love the White Barn Inn for over the top dining … special occasions! Old House Parts for my design projects … rooms of architectural elements just waiting for a new life! 1A has FABULOUS antiquing … and just down the road in Wells … billy’s chowder house … kind of a “side of the road” place with the best lobster bisque and lobster rolls … not to be missed!! xo
I love Kennebunkport. I’ve been going there with my family for years!! They have some great shops, including the Pink Tangerine which somewhow seems to always have every Lilly Pulitzer piece I love.
Maine in the summer and fall is awesome! My family has vacationed near Kennebunkport for over a century! We now cottages which we now rent out by the week or month from May until January…if you want something a little more quiet and very close to the best beach, try here! We still have some weeks available for rent in the summer and fall.
We also host weddings and events at one of our properties “Hattie’s Sugar Shack” on facebook, and Maine Poolside Cottages on Facebook.
