Have you ever seen Jane Mount’s ideal bookshelf artwork? In her own words she paints “portraits of people through the spines of their favorite books: the ones that changed your life, that defined who you are, that you read again and again.” Don’t you love that?
I thought of her work as I was rearranging my shelves this weekend. I’m a complete book nerd and my shelves are overflowing, but these are a few of my favorites. It’s always a bonus when a book is as aesthetically inspiring as it is enjoyable to read.
So what would you include in your bookshelf portrait? Is there a book that changed your life, defines you, or that you read over and over again? Personally, I’m not sure I have a good answer to that question yet!
I have not but this is fabulous. I always love perfectly styled books.
Ha! I better work on my bookshelves … my favorite one in our bedroom is a “collection” of books I picked up at the Nantucket Dump one Sunday afternoon so I could fill the space!! So … my personality seems to reflect a mish mash of other peoples personalities! xo

I’m a book nerd too! Love your picks….I want the Dorothy Draper one you have….do you love it? was it fun to read? They had it on amazon I think for around 95? if I remember correctly.
This one is her book on entertaining, ‘Entertaining is Fun!’ it was cute, but I really want to track down her other book ‘Decorating is Fun!’

I have a book shelf filled with objects and books that visually tell the story of who I am.
I am not a reader. I fall asleep too easily but I enjoy Books on tape and I still make sure my bookshelf defines my style I will pin mine on Pinterest so you can see it.
