Between boarding school and college I’ve decorated my fair share of dorm rooms. Sure, my idea of decorating consisted mostly of taping Ralph Lauren and David Yurman ads to my walls (at least in high school), but I also distinctly remember what a pain shopping for twin xl sheets was. Things have come a long way thanks to companies like Crane & Canopy who actually have stylish options for students.
With back to school season right around the corner, Camila of Effortless Style gave me and a few other bloggers a challenge: design a dorm room featuring Crane & Canopy’s Noe Blue Twin XL Duvet Set. Game on. Adding art is the fastest way to warm up those cinder block walls and these prints from Waiting on Martha are a bit more unique than the faux Van Gogh available at the bookstore’s poster sale.
A rug is the next necessity. It will help you define your space in a shared room situation, and more importantly, cover up that scratchy industrial grade carpet or stained linoleum. If a nightstand isn’t provided, I’d recommend this CB2 nesting set. The lucite won’t take up too much visual real estate and you can pull out the nested tables when you need a spot for your laptop, book, or beverage. Top them with a lamp (love this one and so affordable) and framed photo of your fam. If maybe you’re living off campus and have a bit more room, add a moroccan pouf for extra seating.
So there you have it, one stylish dorm room! It’s been so fun seeing how everyone styles the same bedding. Be sure to check out the rooms these ladies pulled together.
