This jumble of inspiration is currently taking over my desk but I can’t say that I mind one bit. A new Cecil Beaton book for my collection, a favorite turquoise necklace, and a bookmarked page from the exhibition catalog of the Diaghilev and the Ballets Russes exhibition at the National Gallery.
If you’re in DC, I’d highly recommend a visit to the Diaghilev exhibition–it’s open for just two more weeks. I can only imagine what it must have been like to see a Ballets Russes production live. The costumes, the music, the choreography; it was all so groundbreaking! Not to mention the collaboration across the arts–Picasso, Matisse, Coco Chanel, Jean Cocteau, Claude Debussy–it’s like a who’s who of the time period. Completely awe inspiring and worth a visit to get your culture fix.
