Going on a safari ranks pretty high on my ‘must do before I die’ list. I can’t even tell you how many shades of green with envy I turned when I found out my parents were going to South Africa to celebrate their wedding anniversary this fall. Jealousy can be a more vicious beast than any you’d encounter in the bush.
The Robb Report’s travel issue landed on our doorstep earlier this week which only further stoked my wanderlust and Out of Africa daydreams. An article on the newly opened Singita Castleton, a private safari lodge in South Africa’s Sabi Sand Game Reserve, had me wishing for a few million in the bank.
Formerly a private home, Singita Castleton consists of a main house, six individual cottages, a swimming pool, wine cellar, gym, tennis court, spa treatment room, and private chef. Talk about glamping, right? A visit is going firmly on my ‘someday’ list (if only for the purpose of dreaming big) but for now I’m taking inspiration from the decor.
Black and white botanicals, woven African baskets, and a simple flatweave rug combine to make the most luxe safari lodge I’ve ever seen. And then there’s that gorgeous bathroom with its steel frame doors and subway tile… straight to the inspiration files!
