The Marlton Hotel | The Pursuit of Style

Whenever I visit New York, I feel this little twinge of regret that I let fear win out and didn’t seize the opportunity to live in the city when I had the chance. It seems like a rite of passage I skipped along the way, but I suppose there’s always time for adventures and you never know what the future may hold.

Of course, the silver lining to not living in the city is experimenting with charming boutique hotels like The Marlton when I’m in town. We called the Greenwich Village hotel home during our whirlwind wedding dress shopping trip and I’ve been gushing about it to anyone and everyone that will listen ever since. It was only a matter of time before you got an earful.

From the turquoise velvet chesterfields in the lobby that invite you to sit and stay awhile, to the Serge Mouille inspired light fixtures, robin’s egg blue Regency-style headboards, herringbone floors, and insanely gorgeous brass accented bathrooms, this hotel is a designer’s dream.

To top it off, there’s also a fantastic restaurant, Margaux, on-site so you really need not ever leave–which if I didn’t have a wedding to shop for, I would have been tempted not to. We ate under the glow of lantern light in the plant filled back room which was about as close to dining al fresco as you can get mid-February.

Good thing I found a dress so I have an excuse to go back often!

P.S this post was not sponsored in any way, I’m really just that obsessed and think you should be too!

  2. I live here in NYC but stumbled upon the Martlton lounge for a cocktail and had one of the most lovely dinners in recent memory at Margaux with an old friend in town for one night. Neither of us has stayed there but the rooms and experience as a guest look just as lovely as the rest of it. Glad you enjoyed your time here (and found a dress to boot!).

PS Thanks for specifying this was not sponsored. I feel like sponsored posts are creeping into SO many blogs and not always very clearly stated. It was really nice to know it was simply your (understandable) passion for this gem of a hotel speaking!

  3. Love this post! I was so inspired I just called and cancelled the hotel I had booked for an upcoming trip to NYC and made a reservation at the Marlton, so excited! Thanks again

  5. Lindsay – thank you so much for posting your glowing review of this hotel. I’m in NY right now on business and when I was booking my trip I remembered your post about The Marlton and how much I loved your pictures, so I looked up the hotel and ever so thankfully it was on the list of approved hotels in my company’s travel booking system! I stayed there last night and OMG is it a fantastic hotel. I took about a million pictures – I’ll relate my experience and share photos on my blog next week.

Again, thank you so much for recommending what was the best hotel I’ve every stayed in.
