Earlier this week LOFT invited me to stop by their Georgetown store to check out their new summer collection. Full disclosure, I hadn’t shopped with LOFT in quite some time so this was a reintroduction to the brand for me as well.

I was more than pleasantly surprised to walk into a world of color and pattern! The fresh and youthful collection was definitely not the LOFT I was remembering (which, truth be told, is probably tarnished by the ghosts of interview suits past!)

If it’s been awhile for you, too, let me take you on a quick tour and share some of the bright young things that caught my eye:

The Pursuit of Style | LOFT

Given the focus of two of my recent posts, I am definitely on a pink kick. Hot pink and navy is a favorite combination and these striped camis grabbed my attention. I’m always looking for tops to complete my lazy girl summer uniform of white jeans and gold Jacks and this one certainly fits the bill.

I love a good statement short and these might have been my favorite find. Hot pink and coral-y red is an unexpected combination that just works and the playful modern print is perfect for summer.

Fun fact: if you put a tassel on it, I will buy it. Case in point: this tassel scarf which came home with me.

These stripe shorts had the cutest drawstring closure. In the summer I’m all about easy to throw on pieces that still look polished.

Did you make friendship bracelets growing up? These bracelets are the advanced version and totally grown up appropriate. I’m especially loving the combination of lavender and lime–remembering that one for future design schemes!

Eyelet is a quintessential summer fabric. Switch up your traditional white for a shot of citron.

Our taste in interiors often mirrors our taste in fashion so I wasn’t surprised at all to find myself gravitating towards the blue and white. I especially loved the embroidery on this dress.

I also picked up a pair of the mint green sneakers you can see in the top right of this photo and broke them in at Dumbarton Oaks this weekend.

There’s so much cross over between fashion and interiors, and batik, shibori, and Hmong printed pillows have been huge in design this past year. If you love that trend, I’m guessing you might also love this dress.

A big thanks to LOFT for inviting me to visit- it’s definitely going to be a colorful summer! Shop my favorite bright young things featured in this post below:

Issa Dress

Issa Dress

This dress. Ohh, this dress. I spotted one of my favorite interior designers, Lindsey Coral Harper, wearing this stunner on Instagram and I haven’t been able to get it out of my mind since.

Net-A-Porter is my go-to when I’m feeling feeling fancy and pretending I don’t have bills to pay. Because clearly if there were a better use for my rent check, this dress would be it. Am I right?

Those jeweled flowers are everything. Let’s cross our fingers it ends up on The Outnet in a few months…

Anything you’d rather spend your rent check (or mortgage payment) on these days?

Jcrew | ParisWe greeted the first day of Spring with snow here in DC–slush is probably a more accurate description–a bit of a cruel joke, but cherry blossom season is right around the corner so I’m looking forward to brighter days ahead.

Have you seen J.Crew’s newest store in Paris? Before the launch, J.Crew hosted a preview party in this beautiful apartment which perfectly captures the fresh, clean vibe I associate with Spring.

The fireplace in the Hausmann style building is what dreams are made of. Someday I hope to install a similar marble beauty in my fantasy home. Did you catch the emerald and orchid color palette? You know how I feel about that color combination!

Of course J.Crew nailed all the details… a simple arrangement of blush ranunculus, my favorite Diptyque candle burning, and custom J’ai Crew matchbooks. So clever.

While we’re on the topic, I told myself in January I’d swear off the J.Crack but of course they’re killing it with their new arrivals. I mean this, these, and this?! I’m putty in your hands J.Crew.

Have a great weekend and happy Spring!

Fashion and interiors go hand in hand. When a client is having difficulty articulating their style it’s not uncommon for me to shift the conversation to fashion. Who are their favorite designers? If they could wear one label exclusively (and money was no object of course!) what would it be?

Counter intuitive? Perhaps. But you’d be surprised how re-framing the conversation draws out preferences that more often than not translate to their taste in interiors.
Prada Heels

I’ll use myself as an example. I pinned these insane Prada heels and the shot of Caroline Robert’s guest bedroom from an old issue of Lonny almost back-to-back.

You don’t have to look too far around this blog to pick up on the fact that I’m partial to a punch of vermillion and an updated take on tradition; and I’d really like to have those sandals and linens.

Clare V Ipad Cover

Today’s present pick is for The Prep. There was just something about the hot pink and racing stripes that immediately gave me a flash back to my rather large (and now completely embarrassing) collection of ribbon belts that we all wore so proudly in high school.

This Clare V. iPad case is infinitely cooler and it’s success as a gift surely extends beyond owners of The Original Preppy Handbook. The stripes are also a little reminiscent of Goyard, no?

So, if you have any Preps on your list, or Preps in remission (like myself) this is your gift pick. Bonus points if you find a way to monogram it!
