J.Crew’s new arrivals…can’t stop, won’t stop.

How could I when there are swiss dots, pom poms, tortoise/turquoise (together!!) and metallic cork involved? So here’s the question of the hour: if you could only pick one, which would you choose? For me, it’s a dead heat between the swiss dots and tortoise/turquoise. Oh, J.Crack you get me every time.

Lately I’ve been drawn to neutral pieces that have a bit of texture or some other element that provides visual interest. Natural fiber rugs in all shapes and patterns have been appealing to me–especially this round jute number from Serena & Lily. The lace pattern provides a nice contrast to a rougher material like jute.

Don’t even get me started on Anthropologie’s Handira blanket. I might gush for days. It’s the perfect piece if you’ve been coveting a Moroccan wedding blanket but haven’t been able to track one down. I’m equally obsessed with Noir’s burlap bed. THAT headboard! Throw on some John Robshaw bedding and I’d never leave home again.

What do you think? I know I’ve been vocal about banishing beige, but somehow I think I’d let these pieces slide, don’t you?

In the craziness of living out of a suitcase lately, I completely forgot to share my latest post for Matchbook! I’m working on carving out a small space my bedroom for a vanity table and started doing a little daydreaming about how I’d like to accessorize it. I’m back from two days in the dusty fields of Brimfield and am wishing I had a few more days to explore and a U-Haul truck to cart everything back to DC. Oh, and a bigger apartment! Minor details. I’ve honestly never seen so much stuff. Yes, there was a lot of bad (think Coke memorabilia and metal roosters) but that just made finding the great that much more exciting!

I’m happy to report I crossed at least one item off of my wish list but was also thrilled to stumble upon a few pieces I wasn’t particularly looking for but obviously couldn’t live without once I found them. I had to leave my DSLR at home to maximize precious space in my tote for treasures so you’ll have to forgive the iPhone photos, but these are just a few things that caught my eye.

Our first day I was apparently on a Middle Eastern/Indian/Moroccan kick because I snapped the first three photos back to back: a huge vintage suzani that would bee beautiful draped across the bed in a guest room, Indian wood blocks, and a mother of pearl inlaid screen.The next day I collected a photo menagerie that included a pair of Greyhounds, a pair of Staffordshire pups, a leather hippo, and an Italian giraffee. There were marble and brass lamps aplenty, and I found the perfect chair (with Century tag still attached!) for this little project.

Less ghetto photos of my purchases to come! Did you find any treasures?

P.S does anyone happen to remember which dealer was selling those fantastic driftwood pendants? You’d be a lifesaver! We left without them and now my mom’s kicking herself.
