I’m curious, when do you start decking your halls for the holidays; are you a die hard day after Thanksgiving type or do you always wait until December 1? Personally, I try and get my decorations up early so I can enjoy as much time with them as possible before heading home to celebrate with my family. In case (like me) you’re a little bit behind with your holiday decorating this year, here are some pieces I think are just gorgeous.

I’ve been collecting vintage Shiny Brite ornaments for my tree, but fell hard for these glass ornaments from Serena & Lily. They’ll look great mixed in with my vintage pieces and with 25% off and free shipping today who can resist? When it comes to wreaths, I think magnolia leaf wreaths are stunning. They’re a bit pricey, but also don’t scream holiday so you can leave one hanging well into the new year. No time to decorate? Pick up a Nest holiday candle. I promise the scent will instantly make your house feel more cheerful!

P.S check back tomorrow for the start of my gift guide series! I hope you’ll find a few things for the loved ones on your list.

QUOTED

I’m still stuffed from yesterday’s festivities and plan to spend the day shopping some of the amazing online sales. It can be so easy to get caught up in the frenzy and fill your cart with impulse buys so I’m keeping this Yves Saint Laurent quote in mind.

I’m planning to ruthlessly edit my purchases and buy only pieces that will stand the test of time (or at least a few seasons!) Here’s what’s made the cut so far: snakeskin pumps, a pintucked blouse, a striped sweater, gold studs, and a tuxedo shirt.

What’s made it into your shopping bag?

DISCOVERY: CLARE VIVIER COIN PURSES

Persimmon | Navy | Green

I have a whole series of gift guides for you next week, but couldn’t resist sharing these personalized coin purses from Clare Vivier a bit early. Simple but chic, I can’t imagine anyone on my shopping list that wouldn’t mind adding one of these to their purse. A little luxury that you might not buy for yourself (but I’m seriously considering the persimmon) which makes it all the better gift to give. If you’re interested, be sure to shop quickly, the sale ends on Moda Operandi tomorrow!

SNAP HAPPY: NATIONAL ARBORETUM

Patagonia Classic Retro X Jacket | Annie Griffin Kirin Blouse | Retro Super Future Sunglasses (similar)

Exciting life update: thanks to an early Christmas gift, I am now the proud (if not slightly obsessed) owner of a Canon Rebel T3i! I could hardly wait for the battery to charge before we took off to The National Arboretum to get a bit snap happy.

The Arboretum is just a quick drive from our apartment, but I honestly hadn’t given it a second thought until I stumbled across these incredible photos on Alina’s hilarious blog. Who knew this marvel of Corinthian columns existed in northeast DC?

Another favorite was the oxidized atlas I found in a courtyard that could have been straight from a scene in The Secret Garden. It was covered with zodiac symbols (love) and I thought it looked pretty great next to my emerald Annie Griffin blouse.

P.S Thanks for indulging me in a little amateur photography. I’ve already signed up for a class and am eager to improve my skills!

SETTING THE TABLE

C.Wonder Ikat Placemats | Luxury Monograms Monogrammed Napkins | Vivre Salt and Pepper ShakersCalypso Cowhide Coasters | Royal Crown Derby Grenville| Lief Shop Tarte Servers

Second to cooking with my family and enjoying the meal, setting the table is my favorite part about Thanksgiving. It’s the justification I give myself for buying yet another set of china at a flea market or estate sale during the year.

I tend to forgo the traditional autumnal palette of oranges, yellows, and browns for more unexpected color combinations. I’m not hosting this year, but if I were, these tablescapes would be my inspiration. Rich bold colors, patterned china, and monogrammed napkins for good measure.

Are you hosting? How will you be setting your table?
