FAKE IT TILL YOU MAKE IT

If there’s one thing I can’t get enough of, it’s statement jewelry, and Kenneth Jay Lane might as well be called the founding father of the bauble. His deceptive gems have graced lovely ladies like Elizabeth Taylor, Jacqueline Kennedy, Audrey Hepburn and Barbara Bush (remember that triple strand of pearls she wore to H.W’s inauguration? It was KJL). I was so excited to see signed copies of his book Faking It on Ideeli I immediately scooped one up. Can’t wait for the mailman to bring this one!
Anyone else snag a copy?

STACKED

I thought I’d indulge my inner maximalist today with these cluttered corners. I’m sure I’d go a bit crazy if this were my own house, (with only 800sq ft there isn’t much room for clutter), but I think I’d be more than happy to spend a few hours among the stacks of books and other pretty things. What do you think, are these visual overload or beautifully organized chaos?
P.S I don’t have photo credits for these images so if they’re yours let me know!

FOR THE BIBLIOPHILE

I’m the first to admit that I’m a big dork when it comes to reading. When I was little, one of the highlights of my summer was whizzing through the summer reading lists at the library. In middle school, I had to be given an extra “reading journal” because I filled the first one so quickly. Cool kid right? These custom bookshelf paintings by Jane Mount are a stylish homage to my inner nerd. If you’d like to nose around other people’s shelves visit her site here.

I LOVE YOUR STYLE: AN INSTANT FAVORITE

One of the best gifts I received for Valentine’s Day was the book “I Love Your Style” by Amanda Brooks. After unwrapping it, I immediately spent the next several hours devouring every. single. page. After I finished, I just knew I had to share it with you because this is definitely one of the best books on style out there!
You will not find your generic “list of ten things every woman should own” in this book. Instead, Brooks has taken six style categories and broken them down element by element. The book is choke full of vintage and modern photos and I’m sure I will be flipping through its pages for inspiration for years to come.
Brooks also weaves her own personal stories throughout which are equally inspiring. What a fantastic life she’s lived! After describing each style category Brooks includes a list of icons that embodied that particular style, as well as a list of books and movies for reference. Ah-mazing!
To give you a little taste, here are some of the style mavens you’ll find in “I Love Your Style”
Classic:

High Fashion:

Minimal:

Eclectic:

Street:

And with that roster you can tell why it became an instant favorite for me! I’ve waxed on about it enough already though, head over to Amazon or Barnes and Noble and pick this one up, I promise you won’t regret it!
