AN ADLER INSPIRED DIY

I would love to test my green thumbs by adding a pair of fiddle leaf fig trees to our apartment. Jonathan Adler’s living room above is my inspiration. His orange lacquer planters are show stoppers and if I’m going to recreate the look I’ll need something equally amazing.

Enter these chippendale planters which exploded onto my radar last week thanks to the one and only Ms. Meares. I’m thinking a coat or two of Benjamin Moore’s Electric Orange would do just the trick.

What do you think, can I be trusted to bring the outdoors in?

STEAL THE LOOK

I’ve finally replaced most of my ratty furniture from college, but am still on the hunt for a desk. I fell in love with Jonathan Adler’s gorgeous Channing, but unfortunately I don’t think it would be too fiscally responsible of me to spend the better part of a month’s rent on a desk. Sigh, bills really cramp my decorating style! Yesterday, while browsing at World Market, I came across one of their newest arrivals, the Josephine. Very similar to my beloved Channing but for a fraction of the price! No, it doesn’t have the sleek chrome legs or lucite drawer pulls but for only $199 I’d have enough left over to buy some great desk accessories to style it up!

RECOVERING

Are you spending the day recovering from last night’s festivities? Take comfort in knowing that you’re hardly alone. Let’s all take a cue from Audrey and do so with a bit of flair. Keep your aspirin handy in this cheeky Jonathan Adler canister, tie on an eye mask to block out that terribly bright sunlight and have a stack of mags at the ready for when you wake up. Bonus points if you get a head start on your resolution to be more organized by tackling a stack of back issues!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

A PEEK AT OUR NEW PLACE: DINING AREA

Life has been busy, busy, busy (can you tell by my lack of posts recently?) and I’ve missed you all! Our housewarming is this weekend so I’ve been frantically making trips to Home Depot and Ikea trying to tackle some last minute projects. I thought I’d share a few photos from the new place so you can see what I’ve been up to.

Remember how I was contemplating painting our dining room chairs yellow? Well, as you can see, we did it! I’m really happy with how they turned out, I love the pop of color it adds to a small space. I also love our bookcase featuring a lot of my favorite finds and treasures from my travels. Our dining table is dying for some fresh flowers but those will come this weekend from the farmer’s market. So what do you think? I hope I haven’t built it up too much! I’ll be anxiously awaiting your comments :)

NOT SO MELLOW YELLOW

Since we’ve decided to keep the walls in the new condo primarily neutral, I plan on adding pops of color to keep it interesting. The condo has an open floor plan and I want to make sure that each space is defined. To define the dining area, I’m thinking of painting our chairs a bright yellow.
Here are some images that are inspiring me:

Here are our dining chairs as they are now. They were a craigslist find that we re-painted.

What do you think? Should I go for it?
