I can’t even begin to describe the complete geek out I had when I saw this feature on Melissa Miles Rufty on Domaine Home. Not only is the New Orleans based designer one of my favorites but I’ve been obsessed with this specific project for years (check out this post from 2010) and was so so excited to see some new photos of the home.
Melissa says in the feature that the clients asked her to “deliver color–and then some”. Melissa nailed it without a doubt and can we say hello, dream clients! The bedroom and bathroom still make my heart skip a beat and are likely what started my love affair with Manuel Canovas’ Bengale Toile which has been well documented on this ole blog.

Today marks the start of New York Fashion Week. I won’t be among the stylish at Lincoln Center, but I will be looking forward to the street style photos. For me, it’s the details that make an outfit stand out. An interesting mix of color and pattern, statement accessories, the unexpected element. I realized that these same things are what draw me to the interiors I love.
Take the outfit and room above (both recent additions to my Pinterest boards) as examples. Who knew leopard paired so well with yellow? Or that a pop of pink is the perfect way to off-set the combo? In each case it just works and actually looks more timeless than trendy. I’m definitely taking notes!
